In some of the remote parts of Nigeria and Ghana the internet can be poor.  But in the cities like Lagos and Accra connectivity is excellent and mobile phone penetration is almost 100% with many people carrying more than one mobile device.

Mobile payment is picking up fast in Ghana.  MTN Mobile money is currently the leader followed by TigoCash and Airtel Money.  All three of these are mobile phone payment methods in Ghana.

Mobile money is the best way to send money around and to pay for goods and services in Ghana.  Another local payment method is eTranzact which is popular with students.

The most popular Scheme card is Visa.  Scheme cards are not as popular and well accepted as in Nigeria.

Stanbic and Zenith are two popular acquiring banks in Ghana.  Most of the transaction volumes for mobile money in Ghana are for airtime recharge. Connectivity and eCommerce is supported by the local government who has implemented eGovernment initiatives.
