23 Mar The COVID-catalysed Changing Social Structure and the Effect on Multinational eCommerce Companies and their Online Payments
Let's think through our real life experiences under COVID and the changing demands on eCommerce What's happening in our house . . I did a survey of our family of six to find out what they are missing most almost one week into our family of 6 self Isolation: Social coffees, almond cappuccinos, easy wine deliveries, drinks with my friends, freedom (“I feel anxious”), playdates and getting out for the little one, contact with other people, long delivery times. What are the needs . . Based on our family feedback and that none of us want to risk leaving the house and infecting the rest of the family, there is a demand for delivery of groceries and electronic goods, Zoom and Hangouts conversations instead of meeting friends and customers, and apps like online yoga (although many of these are free). The consequences and services . . We received notification that the shopping centres will be closing and only pharmacies and grocery stores open. Feedback from online stores we work with is that their volumes have gone up like crazy and they are struggling to scale quick enough to meet delivery windows, and some are being asked to expand their range of goods, for example from personal beauty to sanitizers to local deliveries. There seems to be a move to buying in your local community and whatsapp groups of local neighbourhood suppliers. DELIVERIES, deliveries, deliveries! Couriers and delivery businesses are struggling to scale and keep up! Our services include: Nigeria Kenya South Africa
